Meikatsu Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) has established this privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as “this Policy”) regarding the handling of personal information in the web service “BuzzTravelers” (hereinafter referred to as “this Service”).

Article 1: Definition of Personal Information

Personal information refers to information about living individuals as defined by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (name, date of birth, and other information that can identify a specific individual), as well as information such as email addresses, user IDs, passwords, credit card information, and other data that are associated with a specific individual, including attributes like interests, family composition, age, etc. However, anonymous user data that cannot identify a specific individual is not considered personal information.

Article 2: Cookie and IP Address Information

Cookie and IP address information cannot identify specific individuals on their own and are therefore not considered personal information. However, when these pieces of information are used in conjunction with personal information, they will be regarded as personal information. You can refuse cookie information through your browser settings, but refusing cookies may prevent you from using some services.

Article 3: Purpose of Use

The Company will use the personal information voluntarily provided by customers for the following purposes, based on customer requests:

  • Sending updates and notifications about this Service, events, etc.
  • Providing information related to this Service.
  • Improving this Service and collecting feedback.
  • Responding to various inquiries.

When customers provide personal information, the Company will clearly state the purpose of use in advance and will only use it within that scope. If the Company needs to use personal information beyond the stated purpose, it will contact the customer and obtain their consent before proceeding.

Article 4: Restrictions on Use of Personal Information

The Company will not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use without obtaining prior consent from the member. Even if personal information is obtained due to a merger or other reasons, it will not be handled beyond the pre-existing purpose of use without obtaining prior consent from the member. However, this does not apply in the following cases:

  • When required by law.
  • When it is necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the member’s consent.
  • When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the member’s consent.
  • When it is necessary to cooperate with national agencies, local governments, or their entrusted parties in carrying out legal duties, and obtaining the member’s consent could hinder the execution of those duties.

Article 5: Proper Acquisition of Personal Information

The Company will acquire personal information appropriately and will not obtain it through deception or other unlawful means. Additionally, the Company will take care not to collect personal information from children under the age of 15 without the consent of their legal guardians.

Article 6: Changes to the Purpose of Use

If the Company changes the purpose of use for personal information, it will not exceed a reasonable range that is closely related to the prior purpose and will notify the members or publicly announce the changed purpose.

Article 7: Safety Management and Employee Supervision of Personal Information

The Company will establish rules for the protection of personal information to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal information and will supervise employees as necessary and appropriate.

Article 8: Supervision of Delegated Parties

When the Company entrusts the handling of all or part of personal information, it will enter into contracts including confidentiality agreements with the delegated parties or seek their agreement to the terms set by the Company, ensuring necessary and appropriate supervision of the delegated parties to manage personal information safely.

Article 9: Restrictions on Third-Party Provision

Except in the following cases, the Company will not provide personal information to third parties without prior consent from the member:

  • When required by law.
  • When it is necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the member’s consent.
  • When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the member’s consent.
  • When it is necessary to cooperate with national agencies, local governments, or their entrusted parties in carrying out legal duties, and obtaining the member’s consent could hinder the execution of those duties.

When the following matters have been notified or publicly announced in advance:

  • The purpose of use includes provision to third parties.
  • The items of data provided to third parties.
  • The means or methods of providing to third parties.
  • The ability for the member to request the cessation of personal information provision to third parties.

However, the following cases are not considered third parties:

  • When the Company entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information within the necessary scope to achieve the purpose of use.
  • When personal information is provided due to business succession as a result of a merger or other reasons.
  • When personal information is jointly used with specific parties and the member has been notified in advance of the fact, the items of personal information used jointly, the scope of parties using the information, the purpose of use, and the name or title of the person responsible for managing that personal information.

Article 10: Disclosure of Personal Information

When a member requests disclosure of personal information, the Company will promptly disclose it. However, if disclosure could potentially harm any of the following, the Company may withhold all or part of the information and will notify the member of the decision without delay. A processing fee of 3,000 yen will be charged for each disclosure request.

  • If there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the member or a third party.
  • If it is likely to cause significant disruption to the proper conduct of the Company’s business.
  • If disclosure would violate other laws.

Notwithstanding the above, information other than personal information, such as historical and characteristic information, will generally not be disclosed.

Article 11: Correction of Personal Information

If a member requests correction, addition, or deletion of personal information on the grounds that it is not true, the Company will promptly conduct necessary investigations within the scope required to achieve the purpose of use and will make corrections based on the results, notifying the member accordingly.

Article 12: Suspension of Use of Personal Information

If a member requests the suspension of use or deletion of their personal information on the grounds that it has been handled beyond the pre-announced purpose of use or obtained through deceit or other improper means, the Company will promptly conduct necessary investigations and will suspend use or delete the personal information based on the results, notifying the member. However, if suspending use or deletion involves substantial costs or is otherwise difficult, the Company will take alternative measures to protect the member’s rights and interests.

Article 13: Explanation of Reasons

If the Company decides not to:

  • Notify the purpose of use,
  • Disclose all or part of the personal information,
  • Suspend the use of personal information, or
  • Stop providing personal information to third parties,

it will endeavor to explain the reasons to the member at the time of notification.
